Superb 4 bedroom farmhouse with 10x5m pool

This exceptional farmhouse, set in a hectare of land, has recently been renovated to the highest standard by local craftsmen under the supervision of an architect. It can comfortably accommodate 8.  There are 4 double bedrooms and 4 luxury bathrooms. There is also full central heating.  Care has been taken with original features and there are exposed timbers and natural stone walls to enjoy. The kitchen is fully equipped. There is a range-style gas cooker with electric ovens and an American-style refrigerator.  The salon features a large working wood-burning stove and logs are provided at any time of year.

Outbuildings, also renovated, provide the basis for the wonderful pool complex in the garden. There is a heated open-air 10 x 5 m salt water pool (heated in spring and autumn) alongside which is a large elevated sunbathing deck.  The deck in turn leads to a games room. This also provides covered shade. There are power points and lighting nearby and dining on the pool-deck at sunset can be an unforgettable experience.

Away from the pool, there are terraces at the front of the house and at the side for outside eating or just for sunbathing or relaxing in the open air.  There is also plenty of space for lawn games such as badminton and croquet and equipment for both is provided. There is some shaded car parking.

La Tuilerie is a perfect base for a relaxing holiday. Its setting is a wooded south facing slope on the fringe of the small village of Montalembert (population c.200) and it is private but not isolated. It is set back about 150m from the road and has its own entrance drive. La Tuilerie enjoys full sun and there are long views especially to the south west. Sunsets are often wonderful.

There is no shopping in Montalembert. The small market town of Sauze Vaussais is a 5 min drive and has the nearest shopping including a newsagent, bakery and a good supermarket.  Ruffec, a larger busy market town, is 12 kilometers away and the important cities of Angouleme, Cognac, Poitiers and Niort are all about 45mins drive.  The wonderful seaside resorts of La Rochelle and l'lle de Re are 1½ hrs away. Bordeaux is 2 hrs to the South and the chateaux of the Loire Valley 2 hrs North.

On the ground floor the glazed entrance verandah has double doors and overlooks the garden. There are armchairs and it provides a perfect spot for a quiet read.

The verandah leads to the large salon. There is a wood burning stove, satellite television and DVD player, hi-fi, and a small library of books, DVDs, etc.. Broadband access is available. There are three comfortable sofas. Other furniture includes an oak dining table which allows for an alternative dining facility.

From the salon there are steps up to the 'Garden Room', a double bedroom (with en-suite shower and walk-in wardrobe) which looks onto the garden.

The salon leads to the country-style kitchen. Here there is an American-style refrigerator, a range-style gas and electric cooker and a dishwasher together with a full range of cooking equipment and utensils. Furniture in the kitchen includes an antique French dresser, an informal dining table and an island serving unit. A larder adjoins the kitchen and has a drinks fridge and dry food storage. Basic cooking ingredients and a welcome pack are provided. The kitchen has a telephone point.

The kitchen leads to an inner hall. From the hall there is entry to a large bathroom which has a shower wet-room and to a utility room where there is a washing machine, sink and space for clothes drying as well as the central heating boiler and a water softener. There is also the staircase leading to the first floor.

On the first floor there is a bright, roomy landing furnished as a study area. There is a telephone point and Broadband access. The 3 further bedrooms are on this level but the accommodation is also flexible. Two of the bedrooms are fitted with king-sized double beds. The third, which overlooks the garden, can be set up with either a double bed or twin single beds. Alternatively, if desired, this room can be furnished as a sitting room and the television can be moved from the salon. One of the bedrooms is en suite with a dressing room and a bathroom with bath. The dressing room is suitable to accommodate a cot or small child's bed. The fourth bathroom is also on the first floor. It is a striking room and contains a large bath and a quite separate wet-room shower. There are exposed beams.

All bed linen and towels (except pool towels) provided.

Everything has been wonderful .The house is amazing, Sonia has been brilliant .All in all a superb break.

I was a chef in a previous life and the kitchen was a delight to cook in, the pool area was great and the bedrooms/bathrooms truly 5 star. You can tell straight away how much time and effort you have put in to make your property stand out from the rest it really is something special.

We had friends visit last week who are staying North of Limoges and they walked around with their mouths open. Compared to their house this was a palace!
